I can not open any of my Libre docs, not even the doc where my passwords are saved, so as to have logged in, any letters I need to provide to the government, my resumé, hundreds of docs I created regarding tribal history and so much more. I attempted recently to download the two latest versions of Libre, but, doing so did not seem to interefere with any of my previously created docs, the creation of any new docs, or the opening of any. I am about to depart for another state where I must hand deliver some of my letters, Please hasten in a response.

What operating system, version, etc? If windows, what anti virus? Anti ransomware?
Maybe you have Windows and enabled anti-ransomware in Windows Defender, see Defender Controlled folder access exception for LibreOffice - The Document Foundation Wiki otherwise if Windows, try adding soffice.bin to the Allowed List in your third party anti-virus, see the link for the path to soffice.bin

But as you don’t give any information you have to find out a lot yourself:
- I rule out the obvious stuff like switching your computer on, checking for power etc and assume your computer is active and you can use it/ are logged in.
- Do you know, where your files are in the OS/file-system? Can you see the files? Are files on a cloud-drive or external didk? Is this connected? Try to make a copy of one file and then try to open this copy.
- If above step ensures you have access to your files (but it diid not open) rename the copied file or a new copy to use the extension .zip (instead of .odt or .ods etc.) All modern office-files are essentially zip-files with special contents, so use a double click (or what your unknown OS needs to open files/folders) and try to open the file as an archive. If you see a folder stucture and maybe find something like contents.xml your file is still readable and the next step would be to access it from LibreOffice.
If the file is not accessible I’d think about disk problems or even ransomware starting to encrypt your files.In both cases you need to have backups. In the latter be very careful not to loose your backup also by accessing it. The only safe version is a read-only CD/DVD - If you have accessibe files but LO is not starting the first step isbto check, if any security-system has blocked LO. Typically anti-virus not recognizing updates or restricting disk-access. I may switch off the anti-virus for some time (maybe switch off internet connections during this time) and try to open your file.
- On Windows I’d try to use a portable install as this is independent from a maybe damaged main install. There is also a system for parallel installs. This may also help on other OS, if it is not the anti-virus blocking any currs also…
- Easiest way around would be to use another computer to access your files after creating a copy of the files on a USB-drive…

macOS Tahoe v 25.5.1 Note: After downloading the libre updates over the past two months, I now have not just the old libre app, but three more. It is confusing to me… which libre is opening, which documents converted to the new update and to which new update, if any? I don’t dare try to delete any of the 4 libres as I have no idea which of the four has my docs saved and able to be opened, edited etc.
Even on Mac your docs are files, accessible in MacOS. You can even remove all installs and your files remain on the local disk, if you saved them there.
a download does nothing. Did you install it/them also?
After LibreOffice is opened there is usually in the rightmost section of the menu an “about Libre office” topic in the menu. This gives you the running version. (Unless MacOS hides this elsewhere.)
Nothing is converted in the last months. The files are identical and readable even for older OpenOffice (unless you encrypted the files).
I’m no expert for Mac, but I guess your update is blocked by the security-system on Mac and you have to unlock this and may allow full disk-access. (I will also add a tag MacOS to your post…)
