I can not set language to Finnish

Hei, I have tried, and have searched all info I can find to set a writer document language to Finnish to get hyphenation working but my document is still set to none-language.

I have all language options set to Finnish in Libreoffice tools - options. I have installed finnish language pack, I have voikko grammar extension for Finnish, I have autocorrect on, in styles I have paragraphs in Finnish, the default as well. I have tried LO in safemode to see if the problem is my profile, but no. It does not either.

Under tools - spellchecker LO pops up saying that there are no dictionaries available and says that the text language is none. I can only choose between None, US and Estonian (!). In the same window, under settings, user defined dictionaries I have Finnish ticked but for some reason it is not included in the available dictionaries.

Under tools - language, Finnish is only ticked in the selection. It is listed but cannot be selected for paragraph or whole text.

Any ideas on what to try next?

I suppose you want to spellcheck and/or hyphenate Finnish texts.
You need an installable dictionary file for the language for this.
If one is part of your installer file you can use the Change option of the installer to add it to your installed LibreOffice.
I tried with V 25.8.4 and found: Unfortunately there is no such dictionary for Finnish. (There are about 70 languages.)
If you want to create such a dictionary yourself, come back with a question like “How to create a dictionary for an additional language? - Finnish in my case.”

I personally am not familiar with that.

I assume the problem is that the Voikko Finnish spell checker, hyphenator and grammar checker extension that is not working anymore

If this is the case, LO is pretty much useless for writing in Finnish.
