I cannot activate the "Placement" options when formatting data labels on a pie-chart in Calc

I want to place the data labels for a pie-chart outside the pie-chart.
I select the data labels, choose the “Format Data Labels” option.
On the following screen, see attached, the “Placement” option remains deactivated no matter what combination of other options I am trying.

I am on Linux Mint, using Libreoffice as follows.

Version: 24.2.7.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 420(Build:2)

Seems as thought here is a reported bug for this

There is no solution as yet, but the workaround seems to be to create you pie-chart as a normal pie-chart first and then switch it to a donut pie chart.

In the initial question, I did not specify that the issue is pecific to a dont pi-chart (because I wasn’t aware of that at the time)
