I just now downloaded LibraOffice and am thoroughly confused and don't know how to got further.

**THIS IS A GOOD EXAMPLE. THIS FONT SIZE IS TOO SMALL FOR GENERAL USE BUT I AM UNABLE TO FIND A WAY TO CHANGE THE SIZE. WHEN I CLICK ON AN ICON, TAB, BUTTON, ETC.A NEW PAGE COMES UP BUT I DO NOT KNOW WHERE TO GO NEXT, OR WHAT TO DO. NEW IMAGES APPEAR BUT WITH NO INSTRUCTIONS HOW TO USE THEM. MY LAST AND ONLY WORD PROGRAM WAS MICROSOFT WORKS AND WORD 2000 AND I NEVER DID MASTER IT. I’M PRETTY SURE BEING IN MY MID 80s IS*NO HELP. I REALLY NEED STEP BY STEP GUIDANCE. THANK YOU FOR WHATEVER HELP YOU CAN GIVE ME.

If you like MS word layout you can find some theme and change the look. Also If you want to use latex then there is a plugin called TexMaths which is really great.

Hi Oldtimer, you are missing the basic in word processing. Try to find in your local community a course in computing. Cities offer something like that and here in South Florida also the Unemployment Agency.

If you downloaded also the Help for LibreOffice (it is a seperate download on the download website) and installed it, you click on help in LibreOffice Writer and on left top side of the windows that pops up, you see a tab Content. Click the tab and run through the Tutorial.

You can also download the documentation from here as PDF-file and read it on your computer or buy it in printed form. The documentation is for older versions of LibreOffice, but the basics you are looking for have not changed in a long time.

Edit: I run a quick Google search for “Tutorial writer libreoffice” and it came up with a lot of documents including YouTube movie.

Have you tried TheFrugalComputerGuy.com website? He has an excellent series of video tutorials on Writer, also on Calc, Draw and Base too.

There are a number of ways to get at this, oldetimer. If you go to the Tools menu, and click Options, then go to LibreOffice Writer and Basic Fonts. There you can set default font sizes. In a document you can right-click on a paragraph, then select Edit Paragraph Style at the bottom, then set the default font size for the Style that paragraph uses. At least that should get you to be able to read documents in Writer.
