Suddenly this morning, after 7 years of publishing many images in journal issues, they’re gone! And I cannot reload or insert new ones. The macro says Could not load image
I’m alarmed that I messed with a setting yesterday while trying to tinker with indexing words within frames and boxes and borders. That doesn’t always work well for me.
What should I try next to reload my images?

And I’m sure you’ve always saved a backup in between that you could fall back on now, right?
Without much details on the structure of your document, we can’t help a lot. You mention a macro. What is it used for? Also you seem to have text frames. Give us an idea on your document organisation and its size.
Is it a matter of loading images (from where? to which destination? is it one-of-a-kind operation or done every time you open the document?) or displaying them? In which case, check View>Images & Charts.
