Importing Style Templates

Hello,

I followed the advice in the link at end of post but it is not working. When I import a style from another LO document nothing changes.

Please advise.

You must assign the styles.
Select the text or paragraph and double-click on the style.

Describe what you did so that we can find which step failed. Mention OS name, LO version and save format. The procedure(s) described in the link are valid only if you save .odt.

I went through…

Styles > Load Style from template > From file (choosing file where I modified styles)

Then when checking the properties of the headings they are just the stock ones/are unchanged

If nothing changed, either you didn’t style your heading with the re-imported styles, or you have some direct formatting active over your headings. To check, select the heading and Ctl+M.

Direct formatting is a direct speedway to formatting hell (because it takes precedence over styles). Contrary to common belief, direct formatting is not at all intuitive and easy. It requires super-expert guru skills to achieve desired look because of the numerous side effects of it.

In the styles panel, the “Heading 1” parameters themselves don’t change when I import styles

Hello,

At import time, did you tick the Overwrite checkbox?

That solved it, thank you
