IMPRESS SLIDESHOW - SLIDES DON'T CHANGE

For some reason, when I test my presentations on my laptop, they seem to work fine. However when I project or cast during a presentation, the slides don’t transition when I move to the next slide. There is a long delay, to the point that you click again because you doubt that you clicked the first time. When I exit the Slideshow, the editor reveals that you are on the slide that correlates with the number of clicks you did to move to the next slide. So Impress appears to be moving forward to the next slide BUT is simply not displaying it via the projector or Cast screen. Quite embarrassing in a presentation context.

I have disabled hardware acceleration and OpenGL rendering but can’t test right now (chromecast issues as well). I have tested on an external monitor (connected via VGA port) and again the slideshow seems to work fine.

Any idea why a slideshow won’t cycle through slides in presentation mode?

Win 7
Toshiba i7 latop
Intel HD 4000 on-board graphics
NVidia 630m (2nd graphics)
16gb ram
plenty HD (170gb free)
LibreOffice Version: 6.1.2.1 (x64)

Knowing your operating system might be useful in solving this. Also, “I have tested on an external monitor … and again the slideshow seems to work fine.” seems to conflict with “However when I project or cast during a presentation, the slides don’t transition when I move to the next slide.”

Windows 7 OS.
The disparity is understood but does not fix the problem. I can test my Impress presentation perfectly on my laptop screen and on a second screen attached via VGA. However, the moment I connect to a projector (VGA or HDMI) suddenly “the delay” in slide progression starts.
Perhaps an Extended Desktop setting issue with projectors?

Ah, so what you’re saying is that the problem only occurs when the second video output is not a monitor?

As strange as it sounds - that is exactly what it seems. A projector connected via VGA really should just be a monitor. Is there perhaps a specific Extended Desktop mode that Impress prefers during a presentation (using a projector)?

Perhaps the quantity of graphics OR resolution of graphics included - grasping at straws here but I’d like to figure this out.

I noticed now on one of my presentation that the problem had reoccurred on my laptop (no projector / 2nd monitor attached). When I went to check hardware acceleration and OpenGL rendering they had been enabled again. After disabling them and restarting the Impress file, I note that the slides seem to be transitioning and animating fine. SO FOR NOW it appears that disabling Hardware Acceleration and OpenGL rendering seem to be the solution. (Would love to test with a projector)

Good find. I was actually going to check playing with the display resolution, because I can’t come up with anything to explain why the nature of the display device would matter, other than the fact that VGA projectors come in resolutions other than what are now commonly used on laptops and monitors. So for example, maybe the problem only occurs when the laptop and the external display have different resolutions, or different aspect ratios.
