I have been using Ubuntu 10.04 with open office and my doc. files ( Template type ) convert for work o.k.
I am now trying Linux Mint Nadia with Libre Office and the conversion is not good.
Tried also Abiword same bad result.
When I send the worked on files ( worked on with O.O. ) and view them after sending in google mail there are no issues.
My question is now: with the origin of Libre Office in O.O. why does it not work?
Curiously under windows XP and libre Office there are no issues.
Hi Qubit,
Rebooted in Mint 14 - deleted all Libre Office items - rebooted - reloaded - there must have been some bug, all is now o.k. ( LO version 3-6-2-2 did not change with the reloading).
Thanks for your help.

Hi @Rienk,
I’m a little confused about what you’re trying to do and what software combinations are working for you. Let’s try to summarize:
- Ubuntu 10.04 + OpenOffice (v?) → Opening (and saving?) doc files (templates?) WORKS.
- Linux Mint + LibreOffice (v?) → Conversion (Opening for editing?) gives poor results
- Abiword (v?) → Same poor results as Mint + LO
- Files from OpenOffice sent through GMail → WORKS
Perhaps there’s a bug in the version of LibreOffice you’re using on Mint. Could you tell us what version of LO you’re using there?
Hi Qubit,
Thanks for the reply.
I have now upgraded Ubuntu to 12.04 - LO 3.5.7.2 - every things opens / works / saves correctly.
Previously I had installed Linux Mint 14 - with LO and that did not open the files correctly. I think it is the same LO version as in U.12.04, am presently in Ubuntu.
while in Mint I downloaded and opened Abiword and had the same negative result.
I was planning to move to mint, but if the LO does not work with my regular files, it is of no use.
What I have not tried, is deleting and reloading LO in Mint. Based on your remark that there may be a bug.
I will come back with that result.
