Insert a fixed-space row-break

I enjoy writing my notes in LibreOffice Writer, but I have a strict formatting I like to use revolving around the ability to use Enter for a paragraph break, and Shift+Enter for a “soft” line break, as to not break the paragraph spacing whilst starting a new line. I’m newly migrating from Google Docs and Word, where even if your page’s lines are all spaced at 1.15, your Shift+Enter line is spaced at 1. Is there any way that I can make it so that my Shift+Enter shortcut will always insert a new row spaced at 1, while allowing the rest of my page to be spaced at 1.15?

I could change it all after writing the notes, but part of it for me at least is the ability to be able to do this on the go in order to maximize the efficiency without having to spend extra time re-formatting things later on.

Example of what I want to emulate:

I actually figured it out before getting an answer, sorry for spam! But I wanna leave it up just in-case anyone else migrating from one of the more popular platforms also needs this solution!!

Set Line Spacing to 1, then go to Layout → Above/Below Paragraph Spacing, set each to 0.06". This will make it so that when you do Shift+Enter (If set to “Insert Manual Row Break”), it only breaks a line spaced 1. But Enter will still break the line at a spacing of something…somewhat closer to 1.15. It’s at least noticeably a different level of spacing.

It is effectively a good solution.

However I am puzzled by your “specification” consequences on the semantic structure of your document. The basic unit of significance is a paragraph (delimited by paragraph breaks). Shift+Enter is a line break inside a paragraph (you don’t leave the paragraph). So, you remain in this basic unit of significance and this is different from two consecutive paragraphs (which may present to the reader different ideas/concepts).

There is another possibility if what you call “notes” are argumentation after some other paragraph so that you have sequence a of “introduction”+“notes”. The “introduction” breaks a continuous run of “notes”. Then you can set spacing above and below in the “notes” style requesting Do not add space between paragraphs of the same style.

Doing so, you have spacing before and after the group of “notes” and rigourously single spacing between “notes”. Of course “introduction” is controlled by a separate style.

I suppose I could’ve said everything in my problem with less words. Really what I want is “Enter = big space, Shift+Enter = little space.” Sure I didn’t need to play semantics or anything but it’s just how I thought of describing it. It’s just something I use to write the notes I study with. Not really sure what most of your message is going on about but its chill cause I figured it out.

That is what the default behaviour is Writer. Open a new blank document, type dt and press F3 to get some dummy text. With the cursor inside the text supply Body Text style by double clicking the entry in the sidebar in paragraph Styles, or press Ctrl+0.

Now insert a paragraph break or two, then try a line break.

Note that Body Text style is applied to a new paragraph commencing after any Heading n, so it is the style to use for the main body of your text.
