Inserting text into a text box

I am very new to Libre and am simply trying to insert text into a text box. Everything I have tried does not work.

Changed category to English and added writer tag.

Hallo
maybe you need toggle back from Designmode:
toggle_design_mode

Don’t!

Text boxes belong in graphical objects. They are limited in their text features and are only intended to label complex shapes when the label would look weird, i.e. badly positioned (note, however, that all shapes can be labelled).

Design your diagrams in Draw (this is much easier than in Writer). Group the elements to make a single “object”. Paste this object into Writer and adjust its position relative to the text anchor.

If your intend is to create a kind of margin note or side comment in your main text, insert a frame. A frame is a kind of sub-document and all formatting features and possibilities are available, which is not the case for text boxes.

Since you’re new to Writer, I highly recommend you read the Writer Guide to discover the tremendous possibilities of the application and, most important, the vocabulary to correctly designate the features/components.

nobody (except OP) knows if we are in writer, @LeroyG has added the Tag by random chance
