Installation failure on Windows 7

I was on 3.43 and attempted to go to 3.45 before 3.5. It failed with and error about couldn’t uninstall an older version. Tried 3.5 and it failed because it was seeing 3.4 in the registry. At this point, I’ve deleted the old directory and most of the registry entries. Also deleted the entry in user roaming. Updated Java.

The error message
Error 1714 the older version of Libre Office 3.5 cannot be removed.

By the way, it should have been built to update from 3.4.3 as its stupid to require users to update every couple of weeks. Now of course all the settings are gone and I’m starting over.

Not good!

Have no idea what it will take. At this point I’m just using Microsoft because of this issue.

What weir rules are here? This is in no way duplicate of “Can I install Libre 3.5 directly over older version?”, this asks how to solve an error during installation.

Go to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Ctrl+F to find LibreOffice

Delete the Key that contains the found item

Repeat with HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products



This should tell Windows that the software is not installed.

No Joy! It still won’t install.

You should make sure the quickstarter is not running in the background. Terminate soffice.exe, soffice.bin, scalc.exe, swriter.exe etc…
If that does not work, try to re-install 3.4.5 and then remove it.

I had rebooted and never installed the quickstarter. Editing the registry is a monumental task which I have done several times. Now it’s your turn to get your act together and make the version 3.5 install properly.

Thank you, I spent hours trying to fix this LibreOffice mess (unfortunately I cannot upvote you, don’t have enough points).
