Installer finishes "successfully" but no programs installed

I have run into a problem on a particular computer that will not install the LibreOffice programs.
I have tried installing LibreOffice ver. 7.1.5.2, ver. 6.3.6, and ver 5.3.7 both 64 and 32 bit installations downloaded from different sources, with different browsers, and all have the same issue.
The computer is running Win 10 ver 20H2 64 bit.

When I run the installer and check “typical” installation the installer runs, the progess bar fills, and the installation finishes “successfully.” I say “successfully” because nothing is actually installed. The LibreOffice program file folders are not created and there is no sign of LibreOffice on the machine.

I have tried running a “custom” installation, but the only options to install are the optional components and languages, but trying to install these produces an error stating “No applications have been selected for installation.”

I have run the microsoft installation troubleshooter, and have done troubleshooting on MSIExec with no progress. Other programs that use .msi files for installation are also working correctly so this seems to be limited to the LibreOffice installer only. I have searched for anyone having the same issue but have not found any kind of fix so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

It is very unusual, but I can think of an earlier installation being present on system, with all components removed (this is not easy to achieve, but doable, and might be a result of some third-party tool actions). Did you have LibreOffice on that system earlier?

Anyway, it might help if you create a log (using this FAQ), and provide it for inspection.

You tagged base: have you any specific problem with the database component (Base)?

IMHO, your installation problem is not specific to Writer, so you would reach more contributors if you retagged your question common (as it impacts all components) instead of writer + base.
