How can I install a back button in writer, so I can get back to the page where I have an internal link, I just followed?
Short answer: you can’t. But if you open the Navigator (you find it in the sidebar) there you have all the headings, links, objects, etc. present in the document in a well organized tree view.
Thanks for the answer. I know. It just takes that I bookmark every link I make as internal reference in the document. Tedious. Very tedious. But possible, of course.
Open the Navigator if not open. In the Navigate By drop-down menu, select Recency. The up-facing triangle next to the drop-down now is “Go back”. Press this after navigating an internal link and it does return you to the link you used.

You can add them as keyboard shortcuts.
- Click Tools > Customise > Keyboard
- In the Category pane, select Navigate
- In the function pane, select Back
- In the Shortcut keys, click a suitable empty combination, e.g.
Ctrl+Shift+,(same key as <) and click the Assign button - Repeat for Forwards but use, say
Ctrl+Shift+.(same key as >)
Or you could create icons.
