I want to install LibreOffice but I have several documents that have been from microsoft office 2007 and 2010 that I want to make sure is compatible
This question duplicates earlier ones (did you do any search or research?), e.g.:
- Exactly how compatible is LibreOffice with Microsoft Office?
- Which MS Office file formats have better compatibility with LibreOffice?
My own experience, for what it’s worth (using LibO 4.2):
- Writer // Word DOCX good, but DOC even better;
- Calc // Excel XSL/X quite good;
- Impress // Powerpoint PPT/X a lot depends on the way the presentation was created: sometimes this works well, sometimes very poorly (in which case upload/conversion with Google Docs is my solution).
The best thing is simply to install and experiment.

Above recommendation by @dajare is really the best.
My experience: I used about 2 years ago LibO parallel to MS Office. Then I saw some incompatibilities. However, after a few month of testing I decided for LIbO and never want to go back to MS Office but convince people to migrate to LibO.
