Hello, I want to know if you folks have the capacity of doing verbal dictation with your word software? I have arthritic hands and typing is quite tough especially on longer type of things that I have to do. Hopefully you do. Thank you.
Usually, “speach-to-text” is an external utility. You didn’t mention your OS; this can help people to make suggestions and tell how to install and configure this utility. While at it, mention your LO version (don’t write “latest version” as this doesn’t mean anything because update cycles vary with platform, OS and user routine; give the accurate 4-number release version).
Windows 10 & 11 has a built in speech engine. It is possible to utilise this from LibreOffice, see my answer here, Can you go from speech to text in Libre Office? - #5 by EarnestAl
A specialised dictation tool is likely to be easier to use
In short, no. Historically, dictation software separate to LibreOffice has been required. On Windows, Dragon Dictate used to have a programming hook that allowed users to dictate directly into Writer, but I seem to recall that Dragon dropped support for this a while ago.
Looks like support was dropped when Libre Office moved to 64bit version releases.
