Java Runtime in 24.2

I went on vacation and I’m guessing things updated! A database I was running mid January now complains about not having a Java runtime. (Sorry, as a new user I can only embed one image)

When I go to Tools–>Options–>LibreOffice–>Advanced No runtime is listed and when I try to add a jvm I get a permissions error when I try to go to /usr (I have no problem navigating there using nautilus).

So, apparently something changed! How can I associate a JVM in 24.2

There are 3 choices for the alternative java (providing /usr/bin/java).

And LibreOffice runs in some bloody container?

I’ve done what LibreOffice suggests which is to install from my package manager, which pulls from the snap store.

Then ask the Ubuntu folks how to reach Java from that office jail. This is how to download and install LibreOffice from the project home page:

Download the debian package from Download LibreOffice | LibreOffice - Free Office Suite - Based on OpenOffice - Compatible with Microsoft
Open a terminal and do

cd Downloads
tar -xzvf LibreOffice_24.2.0_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz
cd LibreOffice_24.2.0_Linux_x86-64_deb/DEB
sudo dpkg -i *.deb

24.2.0 is the version Linux_x86-64 is the name of the archive containing debian packages compiled for the 64-bit IBM PC.
