Labels: How do I use vertical alignment?

Hi, this question has been asked twice before on this forum, but never answered.

When I have a Writer document with Labels, and select the text, Format > Align > Left / Centered / Right / Justified work fine. Format > Align > Top / Center / Bottom, however, are greyed out.

I tried a different method (found here), using Label - right-click > Properties > Content Alignment > Vertical Alignment, where aligning Top/ Center / Bottom is an option.

However, when I then I print the form letter to a new Writer document file, the alignment is not activated. While it is still selected in the Properties box, the text remains aligned at the Top.

How can I center align my text vertically on my address labels? Thanks for the help!

Hello,

This is a bug and possibly related to tdf#36117.

Have found a bit of a work around. Did set the Vertical as center and, as you state, it displays correctly but does not print correctly. However, if a border is used it centers correctly. Here are some print-to-file results:

The right is as you tested and does not center on print. The middle is the same except a black border was used and it remained centered on printing. The left is using a white border and centers on print.

Hope this helps at least somewhat.

Thank you, Ratslinger! This seems like a doable workaround – very helpful!

How do you add a border since this is not a table with cells?
