Last update deleted dictionaries - No dictionary Available

Hi, I cannot spell check my writing after last update. I have tried to import dictionaries but system says already installed.

Version Version: 25.2.7.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 5cbfd1ab6520636bb5f7b99185aa69bd7456825d
CPU threads: 12; OS: Windows 11 X86_64 (10.0 build 26100); UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win
Locale: en-GB (en_AU); UI: en-GB
Calc: CL threaded

I have changed my language from Enlish Australian to English UK, did nothing.

I have downloaded english OED and English Dictionary, and restarted, opens doc but as soon as I try to fix it I get No Dictionary Available

Frustrated
Ardy

  • Have you turned on automatic spell checking? In the menu, click Tools, is Automatic spell check highlighted? If it isn’t, click to toggle it to on.
  • Have you rebooted Windows? Click Start menu - Power - Restart (not power off, that defaults to hibernate unless you have turned off Fast Start)
  • If spell check is still not working, try in Safe Mode. Click Help - Restart in safe mode - Continue in safe mode. Does spell check work?

Thanks very much didn’t realise I have to turn on auto spell. Never had to do it before.

I have the same problem, no dictionary available. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 26.2.0.3 (x86_64) three times to no avail. I DO have the proper English (USA) dictionary loaded when I start LO Writer in Safe Mode, but not in ‘regular’ mode.
What shall I try next?
Thank you.

Backup your profile, in case you need parts later. Then delete the profile, so LibreOffice will create a new profile.

Resetting my profile back to factory settings from within safe mode did the trick. Thank you.

Hi Andy, I have the exact same issue, and its interfering with my work. I know my way around computers, it doesnt happen in my other programs just Libre. I have installed a few dictionaries and thesuraus, but they dont work, and it also says installed. Everything is ticked or unticked etc. been through it a thousand times but still nothing. Very frustrating and slow

Please click Help > About LibreOffice. In the dialogue, click the icon just after Version information with tooltip Copy all version information in English and paste the details into your comment (click the pencil icon to edit; if not available then into a new comment.
.
Make sure that in Tools > Options > Languages and Locales > General (for Mac LibreOffice > Preferences > Languages and Locales > General) that you have set:

  1. Your locale (language/country where you are now)
  2. Your Default Language for Documents (Western). Does it have an ab with a green tick?
