Latest version 5.0.4 - can't insert jpg images into text doc - only inserts frame w property options older versions and openoffice work fine

LO user for many years. Also OO user. Now cannot insert or cut & paste images into text document. Only get the frame with an option tag in the upper corner. Workaround using OpenOffice but that is a pain. What to do. Download older version of LO?
