My Ubuntu Linux system has been repaired after some months idle. It has LO 6.0.7. Asking for an update resulted in no change. Errors? If not, reasons?

It is probable your version is a distro version - from Ubuntu. As you have not stated the Ubuntu version used, the LO version may be the latest available for that release.
