Latest version not opening in Tahoe 26.2

I have MacBook Pro M3 Tahoe 26.2. I have downloaded and overwritten a working copy of LO but it now will not open. The Icon is just bouncing all the time. I have to force quit. Atm I cannot access any of my documents.

I have also downloaded 25.3 but that does not open either. I have recently updated Mac OS to Tahoe 26.2 so that may be the reason? Thanks.

Ah update: I went to another user account on my Mac and the earlier version opened (25.8.3.2). I have deleted the latest version 26 and await advice but perhaps download it and do not overwrite? Will that be a way of testing no destructively? Thanks again.

Did you download the correct version for your hardware? For M3 you should select macOS (Silicon) before downloading.

Did you try changing the xattr setting of the LO app bundle from the terminal, in order to remove the quarantine flag?

Thanks, not sure what ‘LO app’ is but I downloaded again and saved it as separate app (2) and it worked. So assume all is OK now.

LO → LibreOffice

Usually, applications on macOS are installed as self contained app bundles, e.g. LibreOffice.app
The app bundle is actually a special kind of archive file for macOS, the contents of which you can inspect by right mouse clicking on the app and choosing the appropriate command in the context menu.
The reason why you don’t see the .app extension in the file name is because filename extensions are hidden by default in macOS and can be turned on via a corresponding setting in the Preferences of the Finder application. It doesn’t matter, for the purposes of inspecting the contents of an app bundle, whether the filename extension is visible or not.

Happyhacker,
I’m experiencing the same issue. I have a MacBook Pro M1 and upgraded to Tahoe 26.2. Now my previously rather stable LibreOffice freezes after a few short minutes every time. Doesn’t matter which document type is open.

To answer some of the other notes:
@EarnestAl - I always download the latest macOS (Silicon) v7.3
@iplaw67 - I didn’t touch the xatter setting (not sure what that is)

Hoping that this is resolved soon.

Current LibreOffice is 25.8.4 from Download LibreOffice | LibreOffice - Free and private office suite - Based on OpenOffice - Compatible with Microsoft
