I’m quite helpless with this problem: writer/impress seem to “forget” images that I insert into a document. It makes no difference how often I save the file. Most of the time the preview pane on the left in impress shows the image is still in place while the slide itself shows something resembling a broken link icon. Upon saving and re-opening the file the original image is gone for good. Importing the image anew doesn’t cure the problem.
Any ideas how to fix it? The problem occurs with windows 7 or OS X.
In which format do you save your files? — Please also look here: Used writer for pasting screenshots for note taking. Now when I open it, it says "read error" and all is gone! - #4 by mariosv
Thank you for your answer!
Unfortunately, it doesn’t really matter. I’ve tried different formats (.odt, .doc, .docx) It also doesn’t seem to matter if it is an original file that I just created or an imported format. sigh
Thanks for the link. When searching this site I was pointed to it. Seems a similar problem, not quite the same. My document is still there, the text and also a “dummy” where the image was - I suspect writer somehow loses the link to the image file.
@hutschnur - In the linked question from @carolinamelbelle, I interprete the statement “all is gone” as the image is gone not the file. — I am afraid that we have here a bug and look forward to further comments of @mariosv. If you can describe the situation sufficiently well, I propose that you file a bug report here: https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/ ---- If you then would publish the bug number here other can add comments.
thanks for the advice. I guess I’ll try to file a bug report. Meanwhile I’ve tried the two other computers in our home, and unfortunately the result was the same.
