I am using LibreOffice 6.4.7.2, and have made some slides using Impress native file format. When I try to run a slideshow (F5) starting with any slide in the folder, I get 1/2 (the topmost half of the page, apparently) displayed, press some key and the bottom half of the same page is displayed, press a key again, and the slideshow aborts. It is a slideshow of one slide! Further, when I edit the slide I see 1/2 of the page, and naturally the bottom half is left blank, what is that about? One slide is not supposed to be letter-sized, the default in writer!
Try turning off OpenGL (I think still in 6.4.7.2) otherwise turn off Skia (replacement for OpenGL). Click Tools > Options > LibreOffice > View and untick Use OpenGL for all rendering or if not that then untick Use Skia for all rendering

Here is a sample. I suspect I have altered the template so as to introduce the 2/2, can that be ? Still, I don’t see why it would terminate the show after displaying 2/2 of slide 1.
I have checked rendering, all hardware assisted (OpenGL) is deselected.
Looks fine to me. There are two slides, helpfully labelled 1/2 (1 of 2) and 2/2. I think that you can’t see the slide pane, click View > Slide pane to toggle visibility.
Tested with Version: 6.2.8.2 (x64)

CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: default; VCL: win;
Locale: en-NZ (en_NZ); UI-Language: en-GB
Calc: threaded
Same to me. Checked on LO 6.4.7.2, 7.2.7.2, 7.3.6.2, 7.4.1.2
You refer to edit mode, don’t you? See attached screenshot: pointing to zoom factor.
EDIT
4:3 screen slide format - hopefully it fits well to some used projector.
Thinking that it was an Impress issue, I converted my files to PowerPoint format, took it to a Windows OS computer with PowerPoint and tried to run a slideshow - same result, 1/2, 2/2, exit show.
It does not seem to be a problem with zoom, I use ‘Entire Page’.
Of cause it is not desired to have an empty lower half of the slide, that can not be intended, and the top half has the size I need. Anyway, the slideshow should continue, why does it stop?
I did not realize that the lower part of the page (2/2) is a separate slide. Now I have added some text there, but it makes no difference, the show still does not progress to the next file.
The normal way to make a presentation is to have all the slides in the same file. Maybe there is a way to link different files to make a slideshow but it is hard to see the benefit of having each slide as an individual file.

@EarnestAl Now I see where my mistake is, your reply has been very helpful. My aim is to use Impress to create an autoplay slideshow I can upload to Youtube, is Impress capable of doing that?
