Libre Office 7.2 writer does not show jpg

Hi,

My OS is Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS.

After updating to version 7.2, LibreOffice does not show pictures in jpg-format in writer documents, whether freshly inserted or existing in old writer documents. Only a blank placeholder is seen.

If I insert a jpg-pic, the error message says that graphics filter is not supported.

svg and png-formats are inserted and shown without problem, on the other hand.

But if I export odt-documents to pdf, pictures are not shown in the pdf, no matter what format they had in the original writer document.

The box next to “Images and Objects” in Tools → Options → LibreOffice Writer → View is checked.

Does anybody knows what is wrong?

Are you using a snap version of LibreOffice? If yes - see bug report tdf#144326, which is RESOLVED NOTOURBUG, because maintainer of the snap release of LibreOffice (Canonical !?) needs to fix the issue.

Indeed, I had the snap version. So I uninstalled the snap version of 7.2 and installed version 7.1.5, and voilà, the the problem is solved.
