After I installed an update (7.2.3) of LO on the mac (Yosemite 10.10.5) it won’t start up anymore and keeps checking. Then I installed an old version (6.4.7.2) but it doesn’t want to open either. The earlier version I had were never in trouble with it.
Just to make sure: you have all system updates from Apple installed for your macOS 10.10 installation?
What happens if you right-click LibreOffice.app > Open? Please try this process twice.

Thank you for answering. I found the solution: system preferences - security - allow programs downloaded from any source to check
