Libre Office Writer update [but it wouldn’t work/open]

Hi, (using windows 11) I did an update but it wouldn’t work/open and it removed my previous version. All my files seem to still be there in documents but none will open. I tried system restore but that didn’t restore Libre Office Writer. I tried reverting to my previous version but that won’t work/open either.
I have virtually everything important on a flash drive. Sooooo, how do I install a version that will open the files on my flash drive and, are other LO files now lost? I had Libre Office 7.3 and tried to update to the latest version. Anyone got any ideas where I go from here?

Yes usually an update calls the uninstall-routine of the previous installer (as stored in the registry).
But this will neither remove your user profile nor any files you created with LibreOffice.

You may check for your User profile yourself below the folder %APPDATA% (usually hidden by Microsoft, but with the %variable% used as path you can open it directly).

I don’t know you, so no clue.
But to get LibreOffice working I would

  • at first simply try to install again
  • Check, if something new arrived in Programs folder of Windows
  • Try to open from there
  • Check, if some “security software” blocks new dangerous software
  • Try to call LibreOffice from command-line in safe-mode

PS: Backups are usually a good idea …
