Librecalc save conditional formatting

I am trying to save conditional formatting, I am using Debian buster. I try to create conditional formatting but even after creating a empty template file and setting it as default, opening a new file them conditional formatting is not working and I have to create the formatting from scratch each time.

Is there a fix for this issue?

If @Lupp’s reassurance that it should work doesn’t get you there, can you upload an example ODS that you are saving back as a template (or the OTS template file)?

Any cell or range having a conditional format defined will also have it after the document was saved and reloaded, and the CF is also part of the template if you create one from the containing document. New documents made from that template also contain the formatted cells then.
If you copy such a cell and paste somewhere ‘Special’ choosing the Format option, the target cell will also have that conditional format. You can also use named formulas to prepare for CF.
Problems related to the addressing mode (absolute/relative) used in formulas e.g. are unavoidable. Thorough planning is indispensable.

Default.ots (7.4 KB)
I’ve attached a Default.ots template file that I created.

If I open that file, then load up a csv, the templating is lost.

Let’s clarify the sequence of actions.

  1. Open Default.ots. The result is a new document called Untitled 1 (or similar).
  2. Check for conditional formatting rules: Menu / Format / Conditional / Manage… We see one formatting rule.
  3. Upload the contents of the csv file to this sheet. Menu / Sheet / Link To External Data…
  4. Repeat step 2. The result must be the same.

I was opening the new document instead of linking to external data.

Thank you for the clarification.
