Libreoffice 7.4 under Windows 11 crashes during index updating of a big odt file.
Any suggestion? (apart go back to 7.3.5 )
β¦of a big odt file.
What is it?
- In which file format do you save?
- How may pages?
- What file size?
- Are many images included?
- Are the image files large?
- How many headings are included in the index?

below the answers
no problems with 7.3.5
To be more detailed,
- there is a general index: updating it no problem
- each chapter has its chapter index: updating it I get an immediate problem;
I tried for study to change the chapter index to general index: updating it no problem
If the document is not sensitive you may report bug to official bug tracker where LibreOffice developers reads problems and fix the bugs.
If document is too sensitive to publish it on bug tracker, then I suggest that you mask every letter to letter βxβ like Edit | Find and Replace
and replace letter βaβ with βxβ. Then another Find/Replace βbβ with βxβ, and then βcβ with βxβ etc, then the same for upper case letters βAβ with βxβ etc. Then try to reproduce the problem if still crashes. Note: I do not suggest to replace βaβ with βxβ, βbβ with βyβ, βcβ with βzβ, because someone could get your data back to original by looking into character pattern. Just replace every character with βxβ and you go. Developers do not need actual text, then need crash to reproduce. You will probably need to Find/Replace in working LibreOffice 7.3.5 and save the file. Then open it with LibreOffice 7.4 and try to reproduce the problem.
