LibreOffice does not recognize Java JDK on Mac (M4 chip)

LibreOffice Base shows an error message that it cannot connect to a data source. The message says, "No SDBC driver was found for the URL ‘sdbc: embedded:hsqldb’. LibreOffice > Preferences > Advanced does not list any JDK files and the Add button is grayed out. The only button that works is the Open Expert Configuration button. LibreOffice 25.2.5.2 is on a Mac with Apple M4 chip and Sequoia 15.6.

Recurring problem…
.
First step: You have JDK and LibreOffice for ARM/M4? Both have to match.

PS: I changed your tags, as this problem is not a problem of Base (even when it is often a problem while using Base).

Thank you for your comments. While I am sure that LibreOffice and the different versions of Java were all Macos aarch varieties, I did download the LO version (25.8.0) from libreoffice.org. I opened the dmg file and then opened LibreOffice.app.

About LibreOffice identified it as version 25.8.0.4. The LO Preferences link showed me two versions of Java and the Add… and all other buttons are now active.

It is possible that the new version solved whatever problem I had. But it is fixed, and I thank you. I guess that what happened is that you made me think to begin at the beginning.

All is well with me and my computer!

Did you download this particular 25.2 version from the appstore?

If so, then there is no Java functionality available.

Additionally, some of the 25.2.x versions contained a build release bug which prevented calls to libraries such as those requiring Java functionality. This was fixed in subsequent releases, including in the 25.8 branch.
