I am running LibreOffice 7.2.7.2 on Lubuntu 21.10 The desktop is LXQt version 0.17.0
I can start LibreOffice, but when I click on a recent Impress file, LibreOffice crashes. Similarly i can select “Create Impress file” and it crashes. I was able to open a Calc file, but now that Office is crashing, Calc also crashes.
The operating system did recently go through an update. I can’t seem to get LibreOffice to update itself.
Need some advice please.
I myself use Windows.
If your problem has to do with the upgrade of your operating system, my help description below cannot bring any improvement.
But it is worth a try, you can decide for yourself.
First steps
@BChadbo Start in safe mode and check.
.
Info: Start LibreOffice from command line with --safe-mode option
From: Safe Mode

Pobably the LO user profile is damaged?
Thanks for the replies.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far, and with no success - Office continues to crash.
- I restart in Safe Mode - reset to defaults, restart - Crash
- Restart in Safe mode and try to open my Impress file while in safe mode - it crashes.
- Deleted (renamed) user profile – Office creates a new profile but crashes as soon as I attempt a further operation.
- Running on two machines - a laptop and a desktop. Same configurations, both crash.
- Completely uninstall office, with purge, clean, autoremove options, then reinstall. Still crashing.
I’ll keep poking around. Perhaps Version 7.3 will be better, I don’t know how to force it install a particular version.
From the command line, starting LibreOffice in safemode (libreoffice --safe-mode) gives a series of errors:
