LibreOffice is not starting

Hi,

I recently updated to the latest version of LibreOffice, and for some reason, whenever I try to launch the application on Windows 11, nothing happens. What I mean by “nothing happens” is that I don’t see the splash screen if I start it from the command line. I see the processes in the task manager, but then the processes disappear, and nothing happens. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, and I’m not sure why it’s still not working.

Has anybody seen this and found a solution?

Thanks,

L

Try this first. Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features, right click LibreOffice and select Repair

It might be a graphics issue:

  1. Click Start menu > All > LibreOffice > LibreOffice (Safe mode)
  2. Select Configure > Disable hardware acceleration (OpenGL, OpenCL, Vulkan). Apply Changes and Restart
  3. If LibreOffice opens OK, don’t do anything except click Tools > Options > LibreOffice > View and tick the box Force Skia software rendering. OK and allow LibreOffice to restart. If it opens again on restart then all OK, otherwise start again from Step 1, but try disabling hardware acceleration in Tools > Options > LibreOffice > View

If you have The Bat installed then close it before starting LibreOffice

Check if you need to allow LibreOffice (soffice.bin) in your anti-virus software

Thanks, I did the repair. This is after I had deleted and reinstalled—yet again. It<s happened at least twice with the latest version. It<s working now but I will see if it breaks again.

Thanks,

L

I suggest click Tools > Options > LibreOffice > View and tick the box Force Skia software rendering.

Safe Mode
