LibreOffice Math Markup Language Name and Specification

Hey Everyone,

I am a bit of a fan of LibreOffice Math. It just kinda clicks with me and I really like how well it renders and displays equations. I am particularly a fan of the markup language LibreOffice Math uses to render equations.

I am thinking about starting a small project and would love to use this markup language as a part of that project. For the life of me though, I can’t find any information about it. The closest thing I found to a name is “StarMath”, but that was only a single reference in one post, so I am skeptical it’s correct.

What I really want is the specifications. It would be nice to have a document explaining exactly how this markup language is supposed to work, so that the same code can be used accurately in both LibreOffice Math and my silly little project.

I am sure given enough time I could reverse engineer the language specifications from the LibreOffice Math source code and some trial and error, but I was hoping to save some time.

I’m totally new here to the forums. I’ve been using Libre office for years, but never posted on the forums. Let me know if I broke any rules or anything.

Thank you so much!

Any reason you linked the chapter from Getting Started Guide 7.3 and not from 25.2?
