Libreoffice math. no IME. Cannot edit formulas.

I instaled libreoffice 3.5 in linux mint and ubuntu. I cannot use the editor window (Input method engine). I have selected and deselected this option but nothing happen. I am using ubuntu 11.10 and mint 12.
