Libreoffice on my Chromebook can't save to my USB drive

Hello, apologies if this question has been asked before.
I love Libreoffice, have used it for years on my desktop Mac, so I also installed it on my travel “computer” - my Samsung Chromebook.
I would like to save Libreoffice documents I create on the Chromebook to a USB drive I keep plugged in (I don’t really like saving to the cloud).
Trouble is, Libreoffice doesn’t seem to see the USB drive. I’m given the option to save “home” or on “Computer” but not USB drive. I thought the drive might be hidden under another name inside the “Computer” files, but I’ve been unable to find it. Can you help? Thanks!

Save your work to the built-in SSD and use the removable USB device for backup copies.

I can’t test this, because I don’t use ChromeOS, but I assume drives have to be mounted. Linux often provides an automount, but as Linux is here only a guest in ChromeOS you have to do the settings there.
.
Try this tutorial to “share with linux”:
