LibreOffice writer comment arrow rendering

Hello,
On writer, when I display/add comment on a specific computer, no arrow/highlight for comments is displayed.

Step to reproduce:

  1. create a new document
  2. write some text
  3. select it
  4. right click → insert a comment
  5. write the comment text

Result:

No arrow, no highlight around text commented, black background

Expected result:

arrow, selection (as a new user, I can only add one image per post): link to image

Info:

Things I tried (none worked):

  • delete ~/.config/libreoffice
  • fresh install
  • Update LibreOffice 25.8.4 to 26.2.0 (with or without language pack)
  • update system (sudo apt update && sudo apt dist-upgrade)
  • install amd driver
  • enable/disable Use hardware acceleration
  • use the package from ubuntu.

Have you some extension installed? I can’t identify the toolbar at top below menu bar, nor the one at bottom above the Find toolbar.

No custom extension installed (only Slover for Nonlinear Programming and Wiki Publisher that came by default).
On the screenshot, I only customized the view (tabbed + menu bare). The bottom bar is the track Changes toolbars.

Note that the problem persist when I delete the config folder (so without any configuration).

They are not installed by default, at least under Fedora. NLP Solver is an extension for Calc; so, should not matter in Writer.

Just in case Wiki Publisher does not integrate well with 26.2.0.3 (the 0 indicates it is an “early adopter” version, kind of in beta state, where bugs can still be present), try to restart your LO in safe mode with all extensions disabled.

It looks as if you have high contrast set on that computer. LibreOffice High contrast removes colour.
.
Click Tools - Options - LibreOffice - Accessibility and set high contrast to Disabled. Restart LibreOffice to effect the change.
