Hello,
It’s been while since I used Writer. I think it was under Windows 11 and I’ve migrated to Linux Mint Cinnamon 21.3 with LibreOffice 7.3.7.2 about three months ago.
I just wrote a new Writer document and it flagged every contraction, i.e. couldn’t, didn’t, etc.
It seemed to not recognize the ’ as part of the word (contraction).
I can’t find anything in Options > Writer that may set ’ as a delimiter (like , in Calc for a cvs file).
I don’t really want to add all of the contractions to my dictionary…
Any other suggestions?
Thanks, Kurt
Please click Help > About LibreOffice, click the icon just after Version information and paste details here.
Also, if you click in the text of a paragraph with a flagged contraction, what language does it say in the Status Bar at the bottom of the window?
Attempted to recreate with another document.
Version: 7.3.7.2 / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 30(Build:2)
CPU threads: 12; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Ubuntu package version: 1:7.3.7-0ubuntu0.22.04.4
Calc: threaded
My BAD! Writer didn’t flag the contraction, Thunderbird did when I copy/pasted the contents.
I will have to explore that issue.
SORRY!
Thanks for your time and the reply.
Kurt
