very often while using libreoffice 4.1 for mac when i start typing something a popup notice from libreoffice asks me to install java RE. how do i prevent this? it is very very annoying and i would recommend fixing it, it is to the point where it interrupts my work significantly. i would have donated bitcoins to libreoffice but with this frustrating problem, i am not very motivated to do so
Does LibreOffice > Preferences… > LibreOffice > Advanced > Java options section > uncheck “Use a Java runtime environment” help?
great i will try it and see, though i assume it is fixed. i wonder why it comes with it checked, especially if i don’t have java. oh well. thanks! i will donate a little when i can. and perhaps i will try my hand at programming to ad an option “do not ask me this again” to that menu, if it is possible for anyone to contribute to the source code.
“i wonder why it comes with it checked, especially if i don’t have java.” Probably for legacy reasons. Sun (the company that created Java) acquired StarOffice, which then became OpenOffice, and then LO. OpenOffice/LO originally had an increasing dependence on Java, but in LO there are now efforts being made to remove as much Java code as possible.
