I’ve been working on a really long essay for a week or so with the Libreoffice Writer, and had no issues before. I’ve used it occasionally for many years.
I wrote for five hours yesterday, saved normally, didn’t get any errors or nothing. My connection never cut off, pc did not crash, no updates for windows, absolutely no issues. Still, when I opened the file to continue again today, I noticed the last save point for the file is 14 of March instead of 15.
I’ve previously had the backup setting ticked, and have used it to recover files, but when I went to see the settings now there was no tick. I assume there has been an update at some point and it has zeroed the settings, or something. It’s years since I had to use the recovery last time.
I have the “auto save every 10 minutes” enabled, but would it work even if the backup setting is off? Where should I go looking for the file? The folder from c:users:appdata:roaming:libreoffice:backup/etc is empty. There are no .odt files in my Temp folder either.
I am so gutted by this. If I can’t recover the files I literally lost five hours worth of work, and it’s not even my fault. The reason I chose libreoffice over office365 is because I hate how office is in the background collecting all the data, all the time, but now I’m starting to feel like I probably should switch to it because it saves automatically into my onedrive and this wouldn’t of happened… Or it would at least be much more unlikely to happen
Anyways, any help would be much appreciated and if there is nothing I can do to recover the files, take this as an warning about an bug or w/e
