I searched and it appears to have been brought up a few times, but not recently from what I saw. Are there any LO Stencils that have building shapes, Average Building, High-rise, then components such as windows and doors, stairs, and other similar items. There are emojis for these, I’m surprised that there are no stencils yet.
Draw is suitable for making sketches to show, for example electrical work, see Electrical installation plans in Draw - The Document Foundation Wiki. I have used it for designing fences but I I use proprietary software for house layout. I don’t think Draw has the resolution to create plans for a house which needs large dimensions as well as small dimensions.
If you are sketching urban scenes you could use emojis and Shape > Convert > To Curve.
There might be some shapes you could use in Extensions, search on Gallery or follow this link Extensions » Libreoffice Extensions
You can also add any objects you create to a new folder in Gallery for reuse in other projects.
- In the Sidebar, open the Gallery pane.
- At the bottom, click the new button to create a new folder (new theme) and name it House for example.
- Select your object, click and hold for a second or two then drag into the new folder in Gallery.
- To add the new Gallery object to another drawing just drag it onto the page from the new folder in Gallery
[Note adding new theme and adding new objects won’t work for versions 24.8 due to Bug 161606 - Creating new gallery theme crashes LibreOffice Writer]
I don’t think Draw is fit for this job. Of course, you can do it but with great pain. Everything must be designed from scratch. Modifying a sketch is not user-friendly.
I suggest you look for specialised apps. When drawing building plans (and 3D mockups), I use FreeCAD because of its “Architecture” workbench. Be aware that the learning curve is quite steep, though.
