I have my preferred PDF reader set in Windows (10) to read PDFs.
Windows shows that, my preferred app, as the default app to open PDFs.
But in file lists PDF files show the LO icon and PDFs open in LO if I click on them.
Since my PDF choice is set in Windows already I can’t change it.

How do I stop LO kidnapping my PDFs?
So when you open PDFXchange viewer, doesn’t it ask if you want to make it the default viewer for pdfs? What happens if you say yes?
In Explorer, right click on a pdf, select Open with and then something like choose another app.
A dialogue will open select your preferred pdf viewer and tick the box make this the default app click the button Always. OK
What happens, if you use “choose a default” in your second image?
