LO will not start

After I updated to LO 25.8.1 a day earlier, the program will not start. I click on the start menu item or the taskbar shortcut and nothing happens. There is no error message, not even the timer that shows when a program starts up. The screen remains unchanged.

I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the program several times, even restarted Windows 11, but the issue remains unresolved. I also tried changing my user profile to “user-old” but no luck.

Appreciate some help, advice, etc. I’ve used LO for a few decades and it’s always been very stable.

I did all this, at least all that I could read in your response to my question. Nothing has helped so far. And I did try opening in Safe mode a few times but again nothing shows, not even an error messaage.

And I have Windows 11 Home version 24H2.

Did you see any error messages? See General Installation Issues (Windows) - The Document Foundation Wiki for interpretation. Note that where it suggests a reboot, that means Start menu > Power > Restart (Power Off defaults to hibernate unless you have disabled Fast Start in Windows)

Do you have Malwarebytes or another third party anti virus? Sometimes that blocks LibreOffice from opening; add soffice.bin to the anti-virus’s Allowed list

Since this issue started, there has not been a single error message. LO just won’t start. I also never received an error message after reinstalltion of LO, installation has always been succesful.

I believe I found a solution.

There were two other programs that would not start and had no error messages. I believe one of them was the source. So I unstalled all three, reset my PC and reinstalled LO and the others. All three seem to be working normally.

The one I believe was at fault was cCleaner Professional, a paid version of their free program, cCleaner Free, that I’ve used for years to get rid of clutter on my hard drive. The paid version automatically upgrades various software programs, including LO. Shortly after it did that was when I had all these issues.

I’ve learned a lesson and appreciate the assistance from the LO community.
