LO Writer: Can no longer enter Cross-Reference Page Numbers

I am using LO v7.4.7.2 Win10 x64.
I have a very large ODT document that I have been using for months. Something happened this morning that prevents me from adding new Cross-References for Heading or Bookmark.

When I select Insert > Cross-reference > Heading or Bookmark and select it and press “Insert” button, instead of putting in the page# with a gray background, it puts in a very thin zero width gray vertical bar and the page number is missing. It does this for every cross-reference that I tried to put in. I ran an Update-All and that did NOT fix it. I saved the document and rebooted and that did not solve the problem. I did a File > Save As… and gave it a New file name and problem persists.

It is a very large ODT document with hundreds of pages.
How do I fix it so I can put in cross-references? Is there a file repair that I can run? TIA

I discovered the problem. When I go to insert the Cross-Refence, the dialog window has “Refer Using” set to “Chapter” and not “Page Number”. Somehow it got switched and I’ve been entering the Chapter Name which there are none! That’s why it showed up as an empty space. Arghh. Problem solved. I need a drink. :0
