LO Writer File wont open till I close all other Writer files I'm working with

Sometimes I’m working with 1 or more LO Writer files at the same time,
and when trying to open a new one it wont open.
To solve that problem I have to:

  1. close all the Writer files I’m working on.
  2. will pop up a notification saying if I want to recover the info from the files I just closed.
  3. then it “recovers” the files I never lost but just closed, and also opens the one file that I was trying to open at the beginning.
  • It happens both in 7.4 and 7.5. Windows 10. Laptop with cool stickers

There are some questions about the problem:

  • How you opened those files? (They opened normally)?
  • Memory size of your laptop?
  • File size of the documents?
  • How many (what size) of the documents it happened with?
  • File content of the documents (huge images?)?
  • File type of the documents (native?, foreign?)?

In addition to clarifying questions from @Zizi64 : press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open the Windows Task Manager and recount the number of running soffice.exe and soffice.bin (if you see more than one soffice.bin, this is a clear error and the cause of your problems)

Usually, I have 2 LO processes running at the same time:

  • 1 soffice.bin containing all the Writer files I’m working with.
  • and 1 soffice.exe.
but when I have problems opening a new file is that a third LO process starts, which consumes a little bit of Memory, like the soffice.bin, but also CPU.
Next time I’ll check in properties what type of process it is
  • How you opened those files? (They opened normally)?:
I try to open them as administrator and in every posible way
  • Memory size of your laptop?:
    8 GB RAM
  • File size of the documents?:
FIles are plain text, just a few KB
  • How many (what size) of the documents it happened with?:
I never have more than 5-6 files opened at the same time, and always few KB files w plain text
  • File content of the documents (huge images?):
    Plain text only
  • File type of the documents (native?, foreign?):
are all native odt files, except for a few RTF, but can happen with any file

If do you show the Windows desktop (Win+D), can you see the pop-up? With Alt+Tab?
