Mac OS Writer Spellcheck not working after upgrade to current LibreOffice 25.2.3.2

Long time user, first time poster.

I am running Sequoia 15.4.1 on MacBook Pro with a Apple M3 Max chip. I recently updated LibreOffice to 25.2.3.2 and my spellchecker does not work. I purposfuly misspelled a word and it does not automatically underline the misspelling. Additionally, when I click on the spellcheck button on the toolbar a window pops up with a smaller window confirming if I want to continue checking at the beginning of document. I click yes, then the a window pops up that the spellcheck is complete. I click on OK. The spelling window is open, the text language says "[none]. If I change it to English it does not do anything. I have checked all the settings and everything I can find is set to English USA. The box is checked to check while typing. I have re-installed this version of Libre to make sure and I am getting the same behavior. It has always worked fine before. Any suggestions?

Go to LibreOffice > Preferences > Languages and Locales > General, is it set to these settings?

Have you set a default template?

Thank you. I checked this setting and it was set to Default English USA so I just set it to English USA again and applied the setting. Not sure why but it seems to be working now.
