Mathematic Symbols

Hello
How would I be able to add Maths Symbols to my Documents in Writer ?
Thanks
S

The usual way to add matemathical symbols in Writer is by inserting a Math object.
Insert - Object - Formula …
Math objects are by default anchored into the document “as character”, so they behave more or less like a “normal” inserted character.

Depending on which symbol you want to insert, you may need to add “mock operands” or operators to conform to proper syntax. Math requires that every object be a well formed expression.
E.g. entering just “int” in the code pane makes the integral symbol appear with a red question mark. Adding an empty operand by curly braces - int {} - will give the integral symbol alone.

You can also open the Math app by itself and create formulas which can be saved to individual files. This makes sense for re-use, e.g. if you have frequently occurring formulas.

If this does not help you to find a suitable solution, post back with more detail about what you are trying to achieve.

Thanks
I’ll try that & see how I get on, for now.
I’ll reply again if I need more, but that sounds Very helpful.

Thank-You

If you are not creating equations but want to refer to the symbols themselves you can also just add the symbols in paragraph text. Click Insert > Special character and in the search bar, start typing integral, part way through you will see the symbol for Intersection, Integral, Top Half Integral, and Bottom Half Integral.

If you can’t find what you need in your normal font, try OpenSymbol
