meta: forum account authentification appeared to fail on first use - "invalid token"

Signing in again seemed to resolve the issue, so just a bug report.

Firefox 136.0.1 (64-bit), Mozilla Firefox Snap for Ubuntu, canonical-002 - 1.0

In the future please use the URL at the bottom of the sign up page to report such issues, this has nothing to AskLibO. ”Invalid token” most likely means that the token was already used and consumed, so any subsequent at consuming the token is bound to fail. This is usually because your email provider visits links on your behalf thereby creating the account.

Thanks @guilhem.
Which link? The “Technical contact” link which goes here, and then are you suggesting a Redmine ticket?

It’s a low priority issue, because it worked again soon after. I just wanted to flag it in case a) it’s symptomatic of a deeper issue, b) this is actually everyone’s experience but everyone assumed it was idiosyncratic.

Curious, I’ve not heard of that invalidating token before. Make potential sense though.

Whichever of the 4 POC listed there: a ticket, a mail public or private email addresses listed on the page, or a poke on the IRC channel.

It’s definitely what happened. According to the logs there are 7 visits to your confirmation token (of which only the first one succeeded and successfully created your account) and the first one has a bot-like User-Agent.

Aha thanks @guilhem. I didn’t realise you had access to the logs.
Could you send me that chunk so I can check it out myself?
