My personalized toolbars disappeared after the update

My personalized toolbars in Writer & Calc disappeared after the update to ver. 26.8.0.3.

Can they be recovered? If so, how?

The default toolbars remain.

Update: I think other files got corrupted besides the profile. Calc runs fine, but Writer won’t open anymore. I tried repairing the application, but Windows threw a bunch of errors. I’m going to uninstall and reinstall it, let’s see if that works.

What a great start to the week!

Update 2: Surprise! Calc files have stopped opening too. I uninstalled and reinstalled LibreOffice, but that didn’t work.

I uninstalled LO again and installed OpenOffice, but OO couldn’t open the encrypted files.

I reinstalled LibreOffice; encrypted Calc files worked fine at first. Then I tried opening an encrypted Writer file, and it froze. I closed LO via the Task Manager, and now Calc files won’t work either; I don’t know what to do.

I had switched from OO to LO because of this very issue, but I guess LO is a thing of the past for me now, too.

Is there any other office suite you can recommend that can open encrypted .ods and .odt files?

Update 3:
I tried the steps outlined in the LibreOffice user profile documentation and the options in Troubleshoot Mode, didn’t work.

It seemed the entire problem lay with my password-protected Writer file. The backup copy didn’t work either.

The same file worked perfectly on another computer, so there is nothing wrong with the file itself. I removed the password on that other computer and tried it on mine; it worked—BUT only once!

My tests yielded the following results:

In Troubleshoot Mode: Calc, Draw, and Base work fine;

Writer, Impress, and Base are unresponsive?!

In Normal Mode: Calc works fine without a password but becomes unresponsive with a password.

After rebooting the computer (Windows 11), files without passwords work fine for the FIRST use, but then the behavior reverts to what I described above. I suppose rebooting before every use is an option too :)))

Reverting to a previous version would be smart, but I don’t know which version I had. There is a download option for 26.2.6, but that is a very recent version.

Perhaps version 25 would be more suitable, but I couldn’t find it. The “newest” version in the archive is from 2016! Maybe I should just get a typewriter :)))

Depends…
Personal configuration is stored in user profile.
Where your profile is, depends on your OS.
If you have a backup depends on you.

What happened is not clear. Your “old” profile may exist or not.
An automatic update should not change the profile, but if the “update” is part of an re-install of your OS or change from install to snap etc. details vary.
