Need help on installation in new Ubuntu 24.4

Hi!

I have a brand new installation of Ubuntu 24.04.2 and I would need some help to make Libreoffice work here. Most importantly, I need an integration with Zotero to work. According to the Zotero forum, for this connection to work, I need to NOT use a snap installation of LO, but an apt installation.

However, when I install via apt (sudo apt install libreoffice), it simply does not run.

When I install via the App central (which installs with snap, if I understand correctly), I get an unopkg in /snap/libreoffice/344/lib/libreoffice/program/

However, Zotero does nor recognize this and gives the following error:

“The unopkg executable could not be found in the selected LibreOffice installation directory. Please ensure that you have selected the correct directory and try again.”

Anyone can help me out here?

Hi!

Yes, possibly. But: I can not add the extension Zotero_libreoffice_Integeration.oxt in Libreoffice, because I do not have access to the folder it is in. And it feels a bit scary to change the permissions to let my user too much access to the /usr folder. Maybe you know how to set more specific read access, so that it works?

Hi, I have exactly the same problem. Installation non automatic, and I don’t find the directory where I have to save the zotero add.

Well after trying different way to install the Zotero plu-in, I saw the following problem : when I click on “Install LibreOffice plug-in” a window opens, where I can read : select from the list below
BUT there’s no list at all, it appears finally after clicking here or here (I don’t know the actions to do to make this list appear) . But after around half an hour, the installation was still running… for a so small software it was surprising, so I cancel, close Zotero and launch it again, but unfortunetely the list didn’t appear…
It seems that there is a bug somewhere or perhaps an incompatibility with my PC ?

If somebody have the solution, thanks a lot…
