Hello! I am new to this forum and would like some guidance, please.
Whenever I download the update on my Windows 11, it pops up with an error; forcing me to remain within the old version instead. Also, whenever I open it now, not only can I no longer pin it to the task bar, but it shows a grey icon.
Shall I uninstall LibreOffice, install it again and see if it works that way?
I have tried restarting my computer, and the program itself, but the same result occurs.
The basic problem seems to be: To install a newer version the previous one should be uninstalled. Therefore Windows will try to call the installer of the old version (telling it to remove instead of install).
Good idea (nothing better qualified to remove than the original installer), but fails, if the downloaded installer is no longer available.
.
The usual cure to this is to download the necessary files again from the archive Index of /libreoffice/old (link also found near the end of the download page at libreoffice.org )
, and place it exactly where the error message searches it. (You need to read the error-message for this!). Maybe you need to rename the file a bit, if the last digits of version differ.
.
But your question is not clear, as the error you show is only for the (offline) help, so I don’t see why this is
Do you have the same/similiar error, when installing LibreOffice itself? If not: The help-pack is only necessary to show help-files without internet-access (may be quicker), but is not an update to LibreOffice itself. That would be a msi-file without the suffix _helppack_xx-yy
.
You may check your actual version of LibreOffice via menu: “Help>About LibreOffice”
