Just downloaded the update. The toolbar icon stopped working , everything disappeared. Had to revert to the old version. Has anyone else had this issue?
Which issue? Your question contains no information to identify the problem. Help us to help you: OS name, old and new LO version?
How did you download the update? Manually on your own initiative? Automatic LO update download? Automatic package download by your distribution? Other procedure?
A colleague comes every 3 to 4 month with this. Usually the disappearing stuff is only sorted differently than before.

If your toolbar is a taskbar on Windows and recent files is “everything”, then: Yes this is a known problem, as Windows keeps “recent files” separate.
